“Sure, I’ll pray.”

Have you ever promised to pray for someone? Someone is suffering through a difficult situation; health issues, professional dilemmas, or basic life uncertainties. Our reaction is, “sure, I’ll pray.”, and at first we really mean it. Unfortunately we many times never actually do it. As soon as the conversation is over we never think of our friend’s problem again. We break our promise. We are like the disciples when Jesus went to garden to pray in anticipation of His impending death. The disciple said they would pray, but did they? No! They slept. They failed Jesus. Don’t get lazy in your prayer life. Don’t break your promise. Prayer changes men’s hearts and moves God’s hands. It is our path to the throne of God.

If you want to hold God’s feet to the fire demanding Him to answer your prayer, you may want to actually pray it. God answers prayers, not broken promises. Be disciplined, be consistent….be prayerful.

When things are going well and your life seems to be on top of the mountain we can’t lose sight of everything else going on around us. Ministry opportunities are everywhere, so don’t be afraid to come down from the mountaintop to do what God is calling you to do. Have faith that He will provide another mountaintop for you in the future. Luke 9:28-36

Thanks to the Stones for hosting an awesome Sunday School social tonight! Swimming, pizza, homemade ice cream, birthday cake….. 5 minutes of rain couldn’t bring us down with a lineup like that. Another fun night with good friends and good fellowship. Our Sunday School class is the best!

Happy? Successful? Famous? Like me? What’s the answer you would give? We all want the very best for our children and we work hard everyday to make that dream come true for them. But how much time do we spend introducing them to Jesus. Do we care as much about their eternity as we do their time here?

This week we are going to look at the blessing of children and the responsibilities that come with them. Having kids is the easy part, raising them to love God in a lost world is where it gets tough. So join me Sunday as we celebrate Baby Dedication, and focus on what is required of us as parents.

“Diving in”

Elijah was not straddling the fence. He was not doing some sort of spiritual juggling act. Instead he was diving in head first and was making no apologies for it.

Our lesson this week is from 1 Kings and simply asks us to take a stand. We must, at some point, decide if we’re going to follow Jesus completely or are we going to continue straddling the fence…choosing to keep bits and pieces from all aspects of our life so that we won’t leave anything out entirely. For many of us this makes us feel as if we have our bases covered, but in actuality it only means we’re spread so thin that we can’t cover anything. God tells us to cover His base completely and the other bases won’t matter.

So, join me this Sunday as we discuss Elijah’s stand, and his faith in God. It will certainly make us answer the question, “Are we diving in head first or just sticking our toe in to see how deep the water is?” Thanks and see you Sunday.
